Summer Planting Seeds:

These following flowering seeds can be direct sown into the ground all this month. They are easy growers and will give you beautiful flowers starting mid to late summer. Just push them into the soil a quarter of an inch, slightly cover them up, and give them with a drink of water.

Calendula:

This is a mix of Orange and Yellow calendula. They make great dried flowers for tea or for infusing in oil to be applied topically. They are also great for interplanting in your garden as a trap crop. They're a great flower for pollinators and will self seed very easily to give you continuous flowers year after year.

French Marigolds:

Make great bordering plants. Their smell repels pests and the roots help the soil. They can also be dried and used in teas. Marigolds will also self seed, so you will have beautiful plants coming back every year. Once the plant grows to about five inches tall, you can cut back the stem to encourage branching and bushier plants.

Zion Glow Zinnias:

These beautiful zinnias grow very tall and sturdy and produce blush colors of pinks and sherbet, with some creamy orange and buttery yellows. If you want multiple stems on each plant, once the plant is about 6 inches tall cut back the stem by a couple inches. Zinnias are considered "cut and come again" flowers, so the more stems you cut, the more the plant makes. These can get very large if you keep cutting them, so they might need staking towards the end of the summer.

Radiance Pink Cosmos

These cosmos are big beautiful airy flowers that are great for the pollinators. These can grow very tall, up to three or four feet. Plant them behind shorter plants and it will fill out your garden beautifully. Cosmos are "cut and come again" flowers and will continue to branch out more and more stems the more you cut them.

Other Seeds:

These seeds will need to be planted at a later time.

Sugar Snap Peas:

These seeds should be planted later in the summer so you will get a fall harvest. Sugar snaps like slightly cooler weather. Grow these on a trellis or on a chain link fence and you will get lots of yummy sugar snaps to eat.

Poppies:

These poppies were growing on my property when we moved here so I don't know the exact type. They have big airy flowers, are two to three feet tall, with cupcake liner shaped petals. These need to be planted at the end of fall after our first frost. Just sprinkle the seeds on the ground and don't cover them. They will grow their leaves early next spring but they will not flower until the following spring. They need to establish their roots first. These are perennial poppies, so once they start flowering they will continue to flower year after year.

Plants:

These plants are ready to be put in the ground now. Be sure to give all plants a place with lots of sun and give them constant watering for the first week or two to get it well established.

Cherry Tomatoes:

These cherry tomatoes are great producers. You will get tons and tons a perfect little red tomatoes. This plant will start to get very heavy towards the end of summer so please be sure to stake it.

Selene Blushing Lantern 3pk:

This comes with three small starter plants. These are perennial flowering plants with small pink bell flowers. As with most perennials they will need the first year to get established the 2nd year it will start to flower.

Valerian White Cloud:

Comes as one small starter plant. This perennial flowering plant is not the medicinal valerian. It gets about two feet high by two feet wide with fluffy white flowers. Like all perennials it may not flower the first year as it gets established.
